The Laboratory Analyst conducts chemical analysis of samples and provides technical support enabling the laboratory to function effectively whilst complying with company standards and procedures. 

This is a multifunctional role that is driven by routine and supports the production operations of the LNG facility. You will be working in a small team but the role is autonomous reporting into the Laboratory Superintendent. 

The key areas for delivery are around preparation of samples and performing chemical analyses as per the documented procedures in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner. You will need to plan and conduct activities including calibrations, pre-start checks, standard checks and routine maintenance with minimal impact to operations.

You will need to adhere to laboratory reporting processes and maintain the integrity of the laboratory data utilising LIMS. Troubleshooting instrument issues to resolution, updating of laboratory documents and processes and performing method development and verification are key components of the role.

Requirements

Ideally, we are looking for someone with experience in a continuous chemical process or hydrocarbon production laboratory environment or similar. You should be experienced in operating, maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation. Gas Chromatography experience is advantageous. Prior experience in establishing new laboratory processes or commissioning new equipment will be highly regarded.

Relevant tertiary qualification in Chemistry is essential to the role. You will be able to work under pressure with reliability, accuracy and with attention to detail. Effective communication skills, verbal and written and a proactive approach to work is essential. You must be able to plan and prioritise work while still maintaining routine laboratory activities.

The role is based at the LNG plant on Curtis Island working Monday to Friday and you will be transported by ferry between Gladstone and Curtis Island.
