Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Develop, create and modify software applications and modules throughout the department. Analyze user needs and develop appropriate software solutions. Design and customize software for specific client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops and assists in the design of high quality software, both new development and maintenance development, in a manner consistent with best practices and in adherence to Weatherford and team software development guidelines, rules, processes, and practices.

Strives to obtain a functional understanding of Weatherford operational requirements for any development task.

Participate as a software development team member.

Collaborates with other teammates to organize the work to be performed.

Estimate or assist in estimation of software modules to be developed.

Ability to use a wide variety of technologies and tools to help implement continuous improvement of our software engineering processes, including automation of the software build, testing and the deployment process. 

Identifies impediments to completion of tasks and brings them to the attention of the other team members or manager for resolution.

Accepts coaching from more experienced team members and management. Provides coaching to less experienced team members.

Provide comprehensive support to internal customers; achieve resolution to outstanding problems or issues.

Identifying areas for modification in existing programs and subsequently developing these modifications.

Performs unit tests on all software developed and, where possible, produces automated unit tests or testing scripts to aid in future development and regression testing.

Assists in system testing as required.  May develop test use cases and assist in test planning.

Documents software development in an appropriate manner consistent with Weatherford guidelines.

Learns new skills and areas of knowledge as required to assist in completion of modules/projects.

Assist in the specification or recommendation of other operational or technical activities or requirements related to the deployment of software applications.

Multi-task and change from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.

Follows Weatherford guidelines related to the protection of intellectual property and avoiding unwarranted entanglement in non-Weatherford intellectual property.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have experience designing, developing and testing applications

Proficient in C#

Experience with Windows Presentation Framework, Windows Communication Framework

Basic Microsoft SQL Server Administration (ideally 2012 or above) with T-SQL programming, profiling and debugging T-SQL code experience

Experience with automated build tools

Windows application installers (WiX toolset, MSI, etc.)

Knowledge of all aspects of Software Development Life Cycle

Experience using standard development tools - Integrated Development Environment (Visual Studio 2015), Source Code Management (TFS) & Project Tracking System (TFS)

Experience with build automation technologies

Experience with Scrum/Agile/Waterfall development methodology

Proficiency in troubleshooting software issues and debugging a large codebase

Ability to plan, execute and document technical work and projects

Experience with Scrum/Agile/Waterfall development methodology

Excellent programming and problem solving skills

Ability to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environment

Strong analytical skills and the ability to pay careful attention to detail

Self-motivated, Detail-oriented, Organized

Strong verbal and written communication skills

B.S. degree in computer science, engineering, math, physics, or related major and minimum 4 years of proven software development experience

Minimum 4 years experience building Windows desktop applications

Minimum 3 years experience with C#/ Visual Studio

Minimum 3 years experience with Microsoft .NET 4.5 or greater

Minimum 2 years experience with TFS builds and source control

Minimum 2 years experience with WiX toolset

Minimum 3 years experience with WPF/WCF

Minimum 2 years experience with database development

Preferred:

Agile development, particularly Scrum

Oilfield services or oil and gas knowledge

Knowledge of WITS protocol

Working knowledge of drilling and exploration processes

4 years experience with WPF

4 years experience Visual Studio

4 years experience TFS

4 years experience C#

3 years experience MS SQL Server

3 years experience in development of products and software for Oil & Gas

Microsoft development certifications

Knowledge of Tools/Technology for Petroleum Engineering and Drilling Service
