Job Description

Location -Houston - EP Center Americas, United States

Job duties include:

  • Validate duties and fees charged to ensure accurate payments to US Customs and Border Protection
  • Manage import records to ensure files are complete, accurate, and retrievable on demand
  • Manage all FTZ and import activity for several manufacturing sites
  • Support all ISA controls relevant to US manufacturing import processes
  • Provide a single point of contact for import- and compliance-related audit requests
  • Obtain and verify import data for specialized governmental reporting
  • Calculate and relay information to customs broker for necessary filings
  • Perform the final review and validation of customs entry summary documentation
  • Perform value reconciliations and making corrections
  • Forward customs documentation to service provider for duty drawback filings
  • Process custom duty payments timely to avoid fines and penalties
  • Maintain, verify, and issue NAFTA certificates and Letters of Origin in coordination with the tax organization
  • Perform specialized FTZ compliance activities
  • Document and maintain all relevant procedures (ISA, SOX, and desk procedures)
  • Must learn and know the CBP regulations and be able to understand how they apply to hydrocarbon movements
  • Identify areas of process improvement
    • Identify opportunities to consolidate outsourced customs activities and bring them in-house
    • Evaluate and document customs broker performance and recommend corrective actions

Requirements:

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or another relevant discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in customs import compliance
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Licensed Customs broker designation is highly preferred
  • Experience with Importer Self-Assessment (ISA) program requirements
  • Must understand customs regulations and harmonized tariff system in the US
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and planning skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with MS office products (Outlook, Excel, Word, OneDrive)
