Job Description

The Prelude FLNG facility is stationed approximately 450 km North North East of Broome, Western Australia, in Australian Commonwealth Ocean waters of 250 meters depth. It is one of the first of its kind, comprising of sub-sea wells tied back to a Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) facility, which encompasses gas processing and liquefaction through to LNG/LPG/Condensate storage and offloading, with the requisite supporting marine and utilities facilities. 

The Mechanical Technician is a key member of the Shell team supporting the Prelude FLNG Asset. The incumbent will be required to support compliance with the maintenance execution process through;

  • The execution of offshore maintenance activities in line with Safety and Operations Management systems.
  • Supporting continued plant safety, integrity and reliability through the application of specific engineering standards and statutory requirements.
  • Troubleshooting mechanical equipment faults and failures.
  • Informing Mechanical Lead Technician of progress and current status of the equipment and work undertaken.
  • Proper work history reporting in the SAP-PM system to enable data reporting and collection in supporting analysis of facilities performance and failures.
  • Provide support to contractors/Vendors as directed by Lead Mechanical Technical
  • Providing technical expertise/support when required.
  • Develop and foster strong working relationships with both operations to ensure cross discipline ownership of maintenance work schedule compliance.
  • Carry out planned preventative and corrective maintenance in accordance with the requirements of the 21 day plan and the preparation of work from the 90 day look ahead plan
  • Carrying out unplanned / break in maintenance as required.
  • Minimising downtime and contributing to the achievement of production targets.
  • Preparing technical reports.
  • Fault finding and rectification for both static and rotating mechanical equipment.

Requirements

To be successful in the role you we are looking for someone with the following:
 
  • Recognised Trade Certificate
  • Strong technical history displaying proven hands-on maintenance experience on a wide range of plant and mechanical equipment, including (heat exchangers, compressors, steam boilers and turbines, pumps and diesel engines) in the Oil & Gas / Petrochemical /Mining / Power Gen sector's.
  • Proficient user of laser alignment equipment.
  • Proficient user of handheld condition monitoring tools.
  • Good verbal, written and problem solving skills.
  • Good IT skills, building on existing proficiency and developing competence in the Prelude CMMS.
  • Rigging qualifications / Basic scaffolding experience is desirable.
  • Post trade qualifications would be an advantage.
