Job Description

Overview: 

The Integrated Operations Monitoring and Event Management Design Team provides solutions that monitor and analyze the performance, health, and availability of IT assets such as applications and the supporting infrastructure. Products from Microsoft, and Dynatrace are utilized to provide IT Partners with critical alerts, automated remediation, and insights affecting their applications. The successful candidate will gain experience working in an Agile environment to develop and support technology that improves reliability of IT assets. Current development activities leverage Azure services for dashboards/reports and shortly we will apply Machine Learning, AI technology and real-time dashboards to the Monitoring Services. The candidate should expect to work from a high to low level of detail, be effective in problem resolution and systems troubleshooting, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to: 

  • Influence, design and implement Chevron Enterprise Monitoring standards and ensure alignment with the Enterprise Architecture directions for large scale distributed computing environments.
  • Provide monitoring services for applications (SAAS, IAAS, PAAS) and all hosting (Private or Public cloud)
  • Engage Chevron business units to gather requirements and develop cost effective IT Monitoring and Event Management Services
  • Act as a level 3 SME for issues escalated from Enterprise Monitoring Team or IT Operations Center, and provide on-call consulting and support as needed
  • Be responsible for performing day to day design activities for Chevron enterprise monitoring services, and to review, plan for, and execute software upgrades as needed


Required Qualifications: 
  • Strong working knowledge in some of the following IT competencies: Azure Log Analytics, Kusto Query Language (KQL), Jenkins, Ansible, PowerShell Scripting, Windows and Linux administration, Active Directory, DNS, SQL, Oracle, IIS, Apache,
  • Ability to analyze problems, application failures, developing strategies or creative solutions for resolving them and preventing future occurrences.
  • Keep abreast of technology changes and Chevron operating environment changes and be committed to continuous learning.
  • Proactively look for opportunities to improve service and/or reduce costs.
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • 3+ years' experience with Analytics/Dashboard tools at a large enterprise level
  • 3+ years' experience with IT infrastructure, architecture, or administration
  • Public cloud experience with Azure IaaS and PaaS Background
  • 3+ years' experience with scripting/programming languages like: Python, PowerShell, C#, JavaScript, or SQL
  • Any knowledge of proactive monitoring using Azure services, and synthetic transactions Runbook Automation, SQL and REST APIs., and related communication and connectivity technologies to develop developing new software solutions
  • Knowledge or exposure to Big Data technologies is a plus: Microsoft SQL, NoSQL, Hadoop
  • Active Directory, DNS, PKI, Network WAN/LAN and TCP/IP architecture.
