Job Description

Overview:

Provide technical support to Chevron's Global Business Units for selection and specification for subsea wellhead systems. This may include assistance in the well design and wellhead specification phase, recommendations for wellhead system functions-features-ratings, in-depth engineering verification reviews, review of global structural analysis reports, review of fatigue reports, support for problems offshore, and supplier compliance reviews.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
 

  • Candidate should have a background in wellhead engineering and installation for subsea and/or surface wellhead applications and must have strong experience with API equipment standards and related industry codes.
  • Candidate must be comfortable in dealing with data, following the Chevron wellhead standards and specifications, making fact-based recommendations and be able to facilitate and implement these standards across all Business Units
  • Candidate may provide support for writing, reviewing and revising Chevron global standards and specifications.
  • Candidate may have the opportunity to assist CLC course instruction both domestically and internationally.
  • Candidate will participate in the qualification process for wellhead and tree equipment such as subsea wellheads, BOP and tree connectors, including design, analysis and qualification testing.
  • Additionally, the candidate will be exposed to the latest wellhead, tree and drilling technologies and may have the opportunity to represent Chevron to influence technology developments in the industry.
  • Although based in Houston, some domestic and international travel is expected.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Petroleum Engineering
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience with subsea wellheads working with operators and applicable vendors.
  • Recognized expert-level skills and experience in the area of subsea wellhead systems.
  • Experience must include working with subsea wellhead vendors on developing new subsea wellhead systems to accommodate increased pressure or temperature requirements.
  • Independent, self-motivated person who seeks out and applies appropriate technology, focuses on improvement.
  • Strong networking capabilities, and a desire to impact the future of wellhead design.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others to achieve Company and Business Unit goals.
  • Actively shares Best Practices and lessons learned.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, personal initiative and adaptability whilst being a leader and team player who can provide a customer focus.
  • May be required to teach CLC class segments relating to wellheads.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Broad & well-rounded experience in all aspects of drilling engineering planning and well construction operations are also preferred.


Relocation Options:

Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.

International Considerations:

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
