Job Description

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to: 
 

  • Provide expert corrosion-erosion prediction, prevention and monitoring and materials consulting services to Chevron operating companies, affiliates and major capital projects worldwide.
  • Provide primary technical input for resolution of equipment integrity issues; including corrosion assessment, modeling, monitoring and mitigation; Equipment fabrication and repair methods; Metallurgical failure analysis
  • Develop and deploy corrosion technology solutions (R&D) to operating facilities across the enterprise.
  • Develop and update Corporate corrosion prevention and metallurgy technology standards
  • Interact with industry committees, suppliers and engineers at peer companies to represent company interests
  • Improve organizational capability in corrosion discipline across the company, via formal training, coaching and mentoring.
Required Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Corrosion, Metallurgy, Materials Engineering or related degree
  • 15 years minimum corrosion and materials engineering experience, with at least 7 years in the oil and gas industry.
  • Expert level knowledge and experience with upstream corrosion damage mechanisms, erosion-corrosion modeling and prediction, corrosion monitoring and corrosion inhibition.
  • Working knowledge of relevant piping and equipment design, construction, inspection and repair codes and standards (e.g. NACE MR0175, API 571, ASME B31.3, ASME BPV Sec VIII, ASME PCC-2)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to influence and gain alignment at all organizational levels
  • Able to travel to office and field locations (domestic and international), including operating, fabrication and testing facilities, with occasional offshore travel, climbing and equipment confined space entry. Travel expectation is approximately 20%
  • Able to respond to occasional emergency calls and work associated long hours as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Masters degree in Corrosion, Metallurgy or Materials Engineering
  • 5 years minimum hands-on, field experience at an operating upstream or downstream facility
  • Practitioner level knowledge and experience in cathodic protection, coating systems and non-metallics
  • NACE Corrosion Specialist qualification or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineering registration
  • Experience with data analytics and modeling
