About Company

Core analysis as a commercial service is introduced to the petroleum industry by Core Laboratories. The early work of James A. Lewis, Core Lab’s first President, on the determination of the permeability coefficient of a porous media became a guideline for those involved in controlled oil production. Core’s second employee, W. L. (Bill) Horner, conceived the summation of fluids method for measuring porosity by adding the oil and water content and void space in a core sample. He also patented the downdraft retort used in oil and water measurements and developed the method of injecting mercury into a sample to determine its void space.

Job Description

TECHNICAL FIELD REPRESENTATIVE 

SUMMARY 

Reporting to the Sales Supervisor, you will be an integral part of the Sales Team and be responsible for building client relationships and pursuing either the Rock Properties or Fluid Group needs of existing and prospective oil and gas clients in Western Canada. Technical Field Representatives resolve client problems by providing research on problem areas and recommending corrective action. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop new clients for Core Laboratories Canada Ltd. services through personal visits, telephone calls and formal presentations.
  • Call on assigned clients making approximately 15 proactive calls per week. Always make visits with objectives in mind.
  • Define target accounts based on activity or potential activity and remain in close contact with all clients and potential clients from these companies.
  • Develop and prepare quotes and proposals for submission to clients. Price will be reviewed by supervisor prior to submission to client.
  • Provide information to Sales Supervisor regarding quotes accepted.
  • Provide information to supervisor about lost quotes.
  • Maintain contact database and files by client to ensure long term contract continuity.
  • Develop a technical competency to be able to describe in general terms how a test is done at Core Laboratories and what the applications of the data are.
  • Maintain the following reference materials:
  • Capabilities Manual;
  • Price & Service Schedule;
  • Technical Papers.
  • Remain apprised on market activities and technology by reviewing newspapers, periodicals and journals, attending technical seminars and maintaining contacts in related companies.
  • Remain apprised of work in house from clients.
  • Able to complete the following duties:
  • Expense reports; as required
  • Weekly sales reports: due Monday morning every week.
  • Able to perform other tests and duties as required.
  • Be aware of Quality Assurance in all daily work activities with the clients and report any problem or non-conformance to your manager/Supervisor and/or QA & Safety Supervisor.

EDUCATION 

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor Degree preferred. 

EXPERIENCE 

Three to five years' experience in the one of the areas from the inspection industry, laboratory or marketing. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES 
  • Must exercise independent judgment
  • Must be proactive and have an enthusiastic approach
  • Ability to interact effectively with client and company personnel seeking information.
  • Must be computer literate
  • Capable of using Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations.
  • Position requires some after-hours client functions and driving to client locations.
