Saudi Aramco is seeking a Technology Commercialization and Deployment Planning Lead to join the Technology Strategy & Planning Department (TS&PD).
TS&PD is responsible for developing Saudi Aramco's technology outlook and strategy, managing the technology portfolio and intellectual property, supporting the Company's climate and sustainability initiatives, and ensuring the commercial viability of technologies through effective deployment planning. TS&PD develops technology commercialization and related execution plans to help align Saudi Aramco's R&D investment with strategy and value-driven technology deployments that can position the Company with a sustainable competitive advantage, capitalizing on its strategic and core R&D investments.
Your primary role will be to actively contribute to the realization of strategic and commercial return on technology investment at Saudi Aramco by facilitating the setup, operationalization, and enhancement of systems for evaluating, prioritizing, selecting, and commercializing technology development and innovation options.
As the successful candidate, you will possess a bachelor's degree in Science/Engineering discipline. An advance degree (MBA/Finance) preferable.
You should have full-time cumulative experience of at least 12 years, combining any three of research, development, operations, business development, consulting and/or finance experience in either upstream oil and gas operations, midstream, downstream, chemicals, natural gas distribution, energy services, alternative or renewable energy, engineering, or technology innovation. You must have spent at least 5 years commercializing complex inventions stemming from work in the oil and gas/renewable energy, engineering, or computer technology disciplines.
Experience in product development, technology marketing, and deep exposure to energy-related and/or software-related technology licensing.
Deep experience of developing business cases for new strategies or products.
Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following:
Engage with R&D, Business, and Engineering staff to identify, evaluate, develop, and support technology programs with high technical differentiation and market/deployment potential arising from Technology Oversight and Coordination (TOC) research and business user inputs.
Build an understanding of the technical attributes of key technologies, validates market-specific use cases, value propositions, and application concepts. Contextualize against established and emerging competitive offerings.
Develop and implement commercialization and IP strategies for a portfolio of technologies. Work with relevant TOC and business leaders to prioritize resulting projects in line with commercial opportunities, revenue requirements, and strategic fit. Update strategies as new technical results and market data become available.
Develop business cases for commercially viable technologies and prepare key inputs for Stage-Gate, including business case, value hypothesis, deployment plans, and competitive analysis.
Provide updates to senior management on progress, and identify technical or commercial issues that require escalation, ensuring commercial derisking of technology projects.
Coordinate with business lines, Engineering, and R&DC project leads to facilitate the development of external relationships in support of technology development and deployment planning efforts.
Develop and facilitate relationships with multiple stakeholders including TOC/R&D/business managers/ Engineering/finance/legal counsel, individual and industry partners, investors, entrepreneurs, inventors, prospective and current licensees and other relevant colleagues across the wider business to drive the department's vision and realize maximum value from development and deployment of Saudi Aramco technologies.
Work with the necessary colleagues to prepare and execute confidential disclosure agreements, options and license agreements, in support of technology development and deployment.
Oversee licensing contracts, review Process Design Packages, and participate in project kickoff meetings and P&ID reviews. Ensure ongoing knowledge transfer/exchange with licensees. Agree the agenda and manage knowledge transfer meetings, facilitate preparation of knowhow and training manuals, and licensing training. Lead the collection of licensee data.
