Job Description

Job Summary

Anadarko is looking to fill the position for Data Center and International Operations Information Systems Administrator based out of the Woodlands, TX. This position is part of the data center operations team that manages Anadarko's data center infrastructure, designs and executes cabling infrastructure (copper / fiber) projects globally, and coordinates IT services at Anadarko's international locations.

Qualifications

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT / Customer Support.
  • In-depth understanding and troubleshooting skills of hardware, software and peripherals used in a common business environment. Includes PC computers, Servers, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Server, Microsoft Office suite, network printing, scanning devices, and audio visual systems.
  • In-depth understanding and troubleshooting skills of cabling infrastructure (Layer 1 - Fiber, Copper), electricity concepts, common wired network devices, local area networks, wide area networks, and potential connectivity issues for each.
  • Communication skills (written and verbal English is a must). Ability to work well with people and assess each customer's individual needs. Need to be able to communicate with people and businesses outside of the organization and company, which may include business stakeholders, vendors, and service providers.
  • Strong customer service ethos with experience in providing IT support.
  • Excellent organizational skills including accurate records keeping and proper documentation.
  • Ability to work well in a cross-functional and geographically dispersed team.
  • Familiarity with Visio and / or CAD.
  • Experience with international business (European and African preferred), cross-cultural sensitivity, and working as a virtual expatriate.
  • History of building strategic relationships aligned on goals and focused on creating value for customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to interact with all personality types at all levels of an organization (up to Executive Vice President Level).
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, follow processes, and policies (including environmental & safety), and act as a contributing member of a team environment.
  • Experience with Project Management.Ability to manage projects as well as be a resource for projects.
  • Ability lift 70 Lbs.


Responsibilities

Position responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Work safely, and ensure all those working around them are working safely.
  • Position will have direct primary support responsibilities for Anadarko International offices but will share responsibility across Global Support Center, customer support teams, Information Systems and business lines. As needed, travel to international locations in Europe, Africa, Asia, and South America.
  • This position mediates problems, process breakdowns, hand-offs, and/or service delivery issues between IT departments and the supported field locations. Must rapidly establish a good working relationship with customers and other professionals to ensure that Anadarko's remote locations receive IT services that meet or exceed their needs.
  • Inspect, inventory, organize, and arrange cabling and hardware infrastructure in data center and IDFs. Box and ship hardware to field sites as needed.
  • Provide solutions to complex problems on the integration of various technologies including connectivity issues
  • Review, comment and provide cabling infrastructure design for global projects.
  • Resolve operational, infrastructure or hardware incidents and request items in a data center. Working continuously on a task until completion or escalating to the next level support. Prioritizing and managing many open cases at one time.
  • Organize the floor space that harbors data center equipment to allow for easy accessibility
  • Monitor the environmental conditions and power systems of a data center to ensure they are optimum for servers, routers, and other devices
  • Collaborate with IT, managers, and other stakeholders to develop an action plan for improved operations
  • Prepare written and verbal presentations and reports. Provide management with timely and accurate status reports.
  • Keep customer base informed of changes and issues within the data center environment.
  • Documentation and knowledge transfer, such as maintaining and providing solution documentation to other team members, IT and business areas, detailing hardware installations, logically storing project files, and cross training.
  • Model a strong work ethic and take the lead on a variety of initiatives. Be flexible and willing to adapt to changing business requirements.


Educational Requirements

College graduate in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or a related field preferred; Equivalent work experience pertaining to information technologies and field office customer support may be acceptable.

Certifications / Licenses

None required. Cisco, CDCTP, CNIDP, RCDD, or other data center / information and communications technology (ICT) industry certifications would be a plus.

Travel Requirements

The position of travel required for this position is 0 - 20%.

Relocation

This position is not eligible for relocation.

Work Hours 

This position is eligible for the 5/40 or 9/80 work schedule.
