Job Description

  • Facilitate communication and deal flow by becoming a liaison between TransCanada and its shippers for development projects as well as between the commercial team, engineering, legal and regulatory in matters such as obtaining analysis of facilities to serve new loads, cost estimates, project execution, contract preparation, legal matters, regulatory matters and management's approval of projects;
  • Negotiate, draft and execute contracts language to facilitate interconnections of new and existing customers;
  • Analyze data and market trends.  Identify value and aid in the development of business strategies around the findings; use this information to develop refine existing processes and contracts;
  • Aware of competition in the industry and to keep abreast of business opportunities and threats and to meet or exceed objectives; 
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of industry activities, business opportunities;
  • Participates in industry events and ensures industry awareness of TransCanada;
  • Lead or work with various company personnel to evaluate and interpret project financial data;
  • Assists with the training and development of fellow employees;
  • Uses of good judgment ability to balance priorities and demonstrate TransCanada values in all activities;
  • Other tasks as required.
  • Education/Experience:
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering or Finance; 
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Finance is a plus;
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in natural gas or electric industry in marketing, gas supply, regulatory affairs, gas control, transmission or related area is required;
  • Good understanding of FERC regulation, company's tariffs, physical flow of gas and pipeline and storage capacity;
  • Outstanding project management skills;
  • Demonstrated networking capabilities among various constituents - ability to successfully persuade and influence to obtain buy-in and get results;
  • Ability to think strategically and formulate business strategy;
  • Strong research proficiency; Fast paced thinker and analytical skills;
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of data and information, form conclusions and make sound recommendations based on data and research findings;
  • Ability to operate independently yet collaboratively; Ability to maintain strategic perspective;
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex financial, regulatory and business problems; basic knowledge and understanding of commodities trading, including hedging, and derivatives;
  • Requires excellent written, verbal, presentation and facilitation skills;
  • Strong leadership ability; must be able to work within a team environment as well as lead a team.
