The purpose of the role is to add value to engineering product design & development via direct or indirect involvement in the following; o Preparation of clear, complete and accurate detail, assembly and layout drawings in alignment with department standards. o A high productivity of output to ensure project deliverables are met. o Support in the design and review of new products.
The direct involvement in design will focus around less complex problems and technologies and by supporting the Engineering team in meeting the ongoing requirements for the business.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Consistent output of high volume of high quality detailed drawings, with the emphasis on clarity & detail. The volume of drawings should be in line with the planned hours booked against that task for any given project in order to meet the project schedule and budget.
Revises detail, assembly drawings and bills of material using the engineering change process.
Accurately maintains models, drawings and bills of materials in the Weatherford PLM system.
Prepare check layouts from approved detail drawings with accuracy, neatness & completeness. Detail shall identify the mechanical weak links within the tool geometry, so as to provide a useful source of reference. (Subject to checking)
During the process of detail draughting, perform tolerance studies to establish the effects of tolerance stack up on assembled parts. (Subject to checking)
Through entering precise technical data into the computer database, create a high quality Technical interface for use by other departments.
Perform a preliminary self-check of manufacturing drawings prior to submitting to designer/engineer for checking and approval. Ensuring that a high clarity and high quality of output is maintained at all times thus minimising the number of ECN's raised through design or drawing error.
*Support in the improvement of associated engineering procedures and processes, through discussion with other engineering team, internal customers, vendors etc.
Knows and understands the quality policy and comply with all requirements of the quality systems manual, operating and technical procedures and work place instructions.
Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.
Any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by Line Management within the timeframe specified in a safe and efficient manner to meet business requirements, provided the instruction is reasonable and you are capable and deemed competent to fulfil these.
Application of minor mathematical and engineering equations, conduct design analysis, providing documented evidence to confirm the safe performance envelope stated for any given product.
Provide Engineering Assistance to the Quality Assurance, Manufacturing and Assembly departments in the NCR process of manufactured, purchased and Assembled Products and parts.
Undertake the Role of Draughting Supervisor in Supervisors absence.
Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analysing information; conferring with designer/engineer/ supervisor.
Under guidance from a designer/engineer assist in the preparation of test requests and test reports for prototype testing equipment. Ensure all details are clear and precise and that all elements of the products required performance envelope have been clearly verified. (Subject to checking)
Under guidance from a designer/engineer, develop new designs from conception through to finished product as required to meet Sales order requirements and Customer specifications.
Provide manual assistance in the process of assembly and testing of products.
Prepare test requests and test reports for prototype testing equipment. Ensure all details are clear and precise and that all elements of the products required performance envelope have been clearly verified.
HND in a relevant Engineering discipline
Minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience.
Must have good communication skills
Must have proven organizational skills o Proficiency using Microsoft Office, Word / Excel / Adobe and all Web based systems for design completion.
Solid mechanical aptitude
Experience working with 3D CAD
Relevant Industry Experience
